Heat wave returns in northern, central regions

According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, a hot low pressure zone and southwesterly winds have caused hot and dry weather to return in the northern and central regions.

Average temperatures increased to 35-38 degrees celsius on May 27. Some areas saw mercury rise above 38 degrees.

Mercury soared to 38.2 degrees in Hoa Binh Province and Hanoi, 38.5-38.9 degrees in Nhu Xuan and Tinh Gia Districts in Thanh Hoa Province, and 38.6-39 degrees in Tuong Duong and Quy Chau Districts in Nghe An Province.

Hot and muggy conditions will continue to prevail across the above regions with highest temperatures reaching 37-39 degrees on May 28 to gradually abate with rain from May 29.
