The fist national festival of Don Ca Tai Tu opened at Hung Vuong Cultural Square in Bac Lieu at 8 p.m. on April 25.

Don Ca Tai Tu is a genre of music recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Prime Minster Nguyen Tan Dung, Former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and representatives of relevant departments, agencies, and staff attended the opening ceremony.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam gave a speech that giving gratitude for ancestors, individuals, and organizations in preservation and development of Don Ca Tai Tu.
Professor Tran Van Khe, Le Van Toan, To Ngoc Thanh, researcher Tran Phuoc Thuan and playwright Trong Nguyen were given certificates by the Prime Minister for their contributions for development genre.
The festival will have many performances including photo exhibitions, Don Ca Tai Tu performances, national instruments exhibitions, and the inauguration of the Don Ca Tai Tu Memorial Site.
