Duc Tuan scoops ‘Singer of the Year’ in Hanoi

Local singer Duc Tuan won the “Singer of the Year” title at the fifth Cong Hien (Devotion) Music Awards, held at the Hanoi Opera House on April 7.

He also took the award for “Album of the Year” for his Broadway tunes album “Music of the night,” which received high praise from critics.

“When I kicked off the Broadway album, many people said it was an unrealistic project. But the dream came true,” the singer said after the event.

Meanwhile, the “Program of the Year” title went to pop star Dam Vinh Hung for his show Nguoi tinh (Lover), which proved highly popular with audiences and critics alike.

Ho Hoai Anh, an up-and-comer on the Vietnamese music scene, was named “Musician of the Year.”

The annual music awards show was organized by the The Thao&Van Hoa Cuoi Tuan (Weekend Sports and Culture) Newspaper.

The awards are determined by a public voting system after outstanding artists are short-listed by over 100 entertainment reporters.
