Authorities in Dien Bien Province inaugurated the first phase of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum on May 5.

The 22,334-square-metre museum, built at a cost of VND211 billion (US$10 million), is divided into various sections: the resistance war against French colonists from 1945 to 1953; the winter-spring strategic offensive of 1953-1954; Dien Bien Phu Campaign; and the assistance provided by people around the world for the campaign.
It has thousands of valuable artefacts and paintings and photos of great historical value related to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
On the same day Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung attended a rehearsal for a meeting, parade, and art performance to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory scheduled to be held in Dien Bien city on May 6.
