Many cultural activities are being held nationwide to mark International Children’s Day on June 1.

In Hanoi, comedians Xuan Bac and Tu Long will perform a comedy drama titled “The legend of the dragon pearl”. Music, comedy and circus shows performed by the Youth Theater, Vietnam Circus Federation, the Central Circus Theater and the Central Puppetry Theater will also take place.
After a successful performance in Ho Chi Minh City in April, internationally known Bubble artist Fan Yang will hold a bubble show in Hanoi to celebrate children’s day.
The National children painting exhibition 2011 is being held in Hanoi. Nearly 300 pictures are on display, selected from 20,238 works by children throughout the country. The event will run until June 6.
Hue University of Science in co-ordination with Hitec Company and Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade will organize a music performance, painting contest and offer 100 gifts, worth VND100, 000 each, to students of Primary schools No.1 and 2 in Quang Tho commune of Quang Dien District.
Meanwhile the NetCoDo online forum will give 23 presents to disadvantaged children and orphans in Xuan Phu guidance and vocational training center for children and Chi Lang Open House for Children in Hue City.
In related news, Da Nang People’s Committee has just launched the Action Month for Children 2011 program titled , “Safe, Friendly and Healthy Environment for Every Child” from June 1 to 30.
A wide range of activities will be organized to raise awareness and responsibility of the society to help children live in a safe, friendly and healthy environment.
On May 30, the Child Protection Fund held an exchange between representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), other related ministries and agencies and 55 disadvantaged children from 11 cities and provinces in Hanoi.
President Nguyen Minh Triet met the 55 disadvantaged kids at the Presidential Palace on May 31 and praised them for their good results in studies although they have to face many difficulties in life. Every student received a cash prize of VND6 million financed by the State and sponsors.
