Ho Chi Minh City residents have placed their trust in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam as it aims to build Vietnam into a strong and prosperous country with a just, democratic and civilized society, city leaders said on Sunday (January 31).

They expressed the sentiments at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 80th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3).
Citizens have increasingly been proud of the Party for leading the nation to great achievements over the last eight decades, they said.
At the event, city Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai presented badges of Party seniority to 15 officials who have been members for 50, 40 and 30 years.
“Being awarded a badge of Party seniority on the 80th anniversary of the Party is a great honor,” said city People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan, who received a 30-year seniority badge.
“The badge also reminds me of my responsibility to help all Party members to make the best use of their self-motivation, creativity, self-reliance and self-improvement,” Quan said.
“I promise to continue to prefect myself, and study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral example and be a deserving member of the Party to meet the people’s expectations of the people,” he said.
On the same day, a delegation of the city’s Party Committee and Government paid tributes at the Ho Chi Minh Museum’s branch in the city, where they inaugurated a showroom that displays 200 objects collected under the theme of “Ho Chi Minh, who builds belief in victory.”
The say also viewed an art show themed “Move forward with a firm confidence” held at the 23/9 Park by the city’s Communist Youth Union to commemorate the Party’s 80th anniversary.
The historic event is also commemorated with a photo exhibition at the Youth Cultural House that highlights milestones of the Party’s history and the achievements gained under its leadership.
The exhibition will remain until February 22.
