Around 6,000 disabled people from across the country gathered at the Suoi Tien Entertainment and Cultural Park in District 9 on November 30 to take part in the biggest camp this year to mark ‘Disabled People’s Day’ on December 3.
The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and related agencies on November 25 briefed the press on the 14th camp for disabled people.
Around 300 volunteers will participate in the event to help the disabled. A series of free cultural activities will take place during the camp and participants will be offered free meals.
Le Chu Giang, Head of the Social Services Section of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said they have spent VND1.2 billion (US$57,000) for the camp, which has been sponsored by benefactors across the country.
Disabled people will be admitted to the camp and enjoy cultural activities, free meals, beverages and transport fee of VND30,000 each. Even non-registered disabled people will be admitted into the camp free and served with consideration.
