China's vast railway system has experienced its busiest day of the year so far as millions of people returned to work or went home after the Lunar New Year holiday, state press said Sunday.

The 6.28 million passenger trips on Saturday was up on the same period last year, the Beijing Evening News said.
Over six million trips will be taken daily on the nation's railway in the coming days as holiday revellers return to work following New Year family reunions and visits home, the newspaper said.
The holiday is said to be the world's largest annual human migration as hundreds of millions of people rushed to get home by train, bus or plane, sometimes for the first time in months.
